The shape of it is the whole idea. Everyone says hello, then writes in silence for an hour, then stops and talks about how it went. It does not matter whether you are on a novel, a thesis, a job application or a backlog of emails, and nobody reads anyone else's work or asks to. No sign up, just turn up. Free, and you buy your own coffee.
